Annual Meeting 2016: Strengthening public administration in a time of transition

March 2017 - The National Academy of Public Administration’s November 2016 annual meeting raised a number of key issues facing public administrators during a time of transition. KPMG collaborated with the Academy to highlight some key findings and takeaways from that meeting.

The Academy's over 850 Fellows—who include former cabinet officers, Members of Congress, governors, mayors, and state legislators, as well as career public administrators, prominent scholars, and business executives—meet annually. The focus of the 2016 meeting was “Strengthening Public Administration in a Time of Transition.” A series of speakers and panel sessions explored such issues as agile performance management, strategic foresight,  collaboration across boundaries, national security, policing challenges, building stronger ties across levels of government, and evidence-based approaches.
