Chief Information Officers Council -- Multi-Agency Funded
(Posted January 2001)
The National Academy of Public Administration will conduct
a study of the federal government's compensation of information
technology (IT) professionals. This work will assist the government
in developing alternative systems and approaches that will
enable it to attract and retain the talent needed to carry
out the information technology functions in the federal sector.
In addition to refining the recruitment and retention issues
for this occupational field, the study will review current
practices in both the public and private sector and provide
a cost benefit analysis of the basic compensation alternatives.
Using this information, the study team will design possible
solutions to the problems identified. Once a plan is developed,
the Academy will develop a strategy to provide information
on the study results to stakeholders and devise an implementation
plan for the proposed changes.
