Dr. Reed was on the faculty of the University of Nebraska at Omaha since 1982 and has served as Chairman of the Department from 1985 to 2000 and as Dean of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service since the Fall of 2000. Dr. Reed was appointed Interim Senior Vice Chancellor of Academic and Student Affairs in September 2011. Since 2006 he has also served as Executive Associate to the Chancellor. Dr. Reed works closely with other community-based initiatives including The Neighborhood Center for Greater Omaha, the Omaha Hate Crimes Project and the Family Economic Success Initiative. Dr. Reed has also facilitated strategic planning processes for the Urban League of Nebraska, The Omaha Home for Boys and the Chicano Awareness Center. Dr. Reed is recipient of the David Scott Professorship, the Elmer B. Staats Career Public Service Award of the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration, The Advancing Public Service Award from the Nebraska Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration, The Mayor of Omaha’s Partnership Award, The Young Alumni and Alumni Achievement Award from Fort Hays State University, and the Chancellor’s Medal from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
