Katie Malague has experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. She most recently served as the Chief Management Officer with the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, where she oversaw internal management, administration, and operations. Prior to joining OPM, Katie was the principal deputy for the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal Student Aid, leading the agency’s enterprise-wide management functions, including strategic and operational planning, human capital, budget and finance, procurement, and technology. Katie previously served as vice president for government effectiveness with the Partnership for Public Service, a nonprofit organization that focuses on federal management issues; director of the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s Office of Strategic Planning and Performance Improvement; a manager with the Office of Management and Budget’s Performance and Personnel Management team; and a manager in Accenture’s federal consulting practice, specializing in change management and organizational performance. Katie earned her bachelor’s degree from Bucknell University and her master’s degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. She joined the federal Senior Executive Service in 2015 and was elected as a fellow in the National Academy of Public Administration in 2018.
