Norma Riccucci

Dr. Norma M. Riccucci is a Board of Governors Distinguished Professor in the School of Public Affairs and Administration (SPAA) at Rutgers University–Newark. She is the author of numerous publications and books including most recently, Policy Drift: Shared Powers and the Making of U.S. Law and Policy (New York University Press, 2018). Additional publications include: Public Administration: Traditions of Inquiry and Philosophies of Knowledge (Georgetown University Press), which received the 2012 Best Book Award from the Research section of the American Society of Public Administration); How Management Matters: Street Level Bureaucrats and Welfare Reform (Georgetown University Press) which received the 2009 Best Book Award from the public administration section of the American Political Science Association); and Managing Diversity in Public Sector Workforces (Westview Press). She is also co-author of the leading public personnel textbook in the field of public administration. Riccucci’s research interests lie in the broad area of public management, with specific interests in social equity policies and representative bureaucracy. She has received a number of national awards including the American Political Science Association’s John Gaus Award for lifetime of exemplary scholarship in the joint tradition of political science and public administration and the American Society of Public Administration’s Dwight Waldo Award for a lifelong contribution to public administration. She is a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA).
