Shirley Jones is a Senior Executive Service (SES) member at the U. S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). In that role, she manages the provision of GAO advice and legal decisions to Members of Congress and federal agencies on federal appropriations law matters, congressional oversight of agency rulemaking, and vacancies in presidentially appointed, Senate confirmed positions. From 2021-2024, Ms. Jones simultaneously served as the 15th National President of Blacks In Government (BIG), Inc. which has members and chapters nationwide and internationally. She led the organization through the pandemic with its first virtual National Training Institute (NTI), a safe return to in person training, a new formal BIG GROW mentoring program, and greater visibility for the organization as an employee training resource. Ms. Jones is a proud alum of Spelman College where she received a degree in political science and Georgetown University Law Center where she received her law (J.D.) and Master of Laws (LLM) in Taxation degrees. She also completed American University’s Key Executive Leadership Program.
