Derek Kilmer is a former U.S. Representative from Washington State and currently serves as Senior Vice President of U.S. Program and Policy at The Rockefeller Foundation. During his six terms in Congress, he championed bipartisan economic development initiatives to support distressed communities and expand opportunity nationwide. He also served as Chairman of the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, where he led the adoption of more than 200 recommendations to improve the effectiveness, transparency, and operations of the legislative branch. Prior to his time in Congress, Kilmer worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company and for a nonprofit focused on economic development. He holds an undergraduate degree from Princeton University and a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
