Gloria Rubio-Cortés has been the CLLARO Program Development Manager since June 2019. She is retired and is a full-time volunteer for CLLARO. At CLLARO, Ms. Rubio-Cortés has managed fund development which has increased CLLARO’s funds annually from foundations, companies, individuals, and others. Ms. Rubio-Cortés has more than 30 years of experience as a senior manager in national social justice, civil rights, and civic engagement nonprofits and in social justice global and statewide philanthropies. Most recently, she was the President of the National Civic League (NCL) in Denver for 8 years. She was also NCL Chief Operating Officer and Vice President and worked more than 17 years at this organization. She started her career at the National Council of La Raza (now UNIDOSUS) as a communications associate in Washington, DC. For 12 years, she progressed through the fund development and communications department of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund (MALDEF) in San Francisco and Los Angeles. For four years she led MALDEF’s Development and Communications as Vice President and raised millions of dollars annually with a staff of 5. At the global social justice philanthropy, Levi Strauss Foundation, and Levi Strauss & Co., Ms. Rubio-Cortes was the senior manager with a U.S. national grant portfolio. For more than five years, she held various senior manager positions at the $50 million Community Technology Foundation of California overseeing grantmaking, and capacity building. She also helped design the policy leadership program.
