As the United States prepares to commemorate its 250th anniversary, the Academy's National Conference will bring together leaders and changemakers from across the public administration landscape to explore how public service must evolve for the future. Over three days, we’ll spotlight innovation, honor excellence, and foster dialogue around the capacity of government in a rapidly changing world.

Hotel Information

We have a block of rooms reserved for a discounted price at two hotels near the conference: Hotel Hive and the River Inn. Please use the following booking links through October 16th to reserve your accommodations:

Please check the dates before reserving your room! The block exists from October 30-November 6, but the conference is from November 2-4.

Transportation

The conference is primarily located at the National Academy of Sciences Building - 2101 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20418

Sunday, November 2 is the only day where we will be hosting content at our offices and then at the National Academy of Sciences. Content at the Academy will end at 4 pm and then content at the National Academy of Sciences will begin at 5:30 pm, giving you plenty of time to get to the NAS building. We will NOT be providing a bus or transportation to get you from the Academy to the NAS.

Traveling to the Academy office (1600 K St NW)

Our entrance is on 16th Street, not K Street. It is directly next to PJ Clarke’s.

Parking

There are several S+P parking garages on Eye St that are open on weekends.

Public Transit

• Several buses drop off at the corner of 16th and K.
• The Blue/Orange/Silver line to Farragut West or McPherson Square (both are about a 2-4 minute walk)
• Take Red line to Farragut North and walk 2-4 minutes.

Traveling to the National Academy of Sciences (2101 Constitution Ave NW)

The front entrance, facing Constitution Ave, will be open. This is where you will check in.

• Public metered street parking from 22nd St to 18th St.

Walking from the Hotels

• The National Academy of Sciences is 0.5 miles from Hotel Hive, about a 10-minute walk. It is about 1 mile from River Inn, about a 19-minute walk.
  • Directions from Hotel Hive:
    • Exit the hotel, walk to the intersection of 23rd and Virginia Ave.
    • Walk south on 23rd St for 4 blocks.
    • Turn left on Constitution Ave.
  • Directions from River Inn:
    • Walk to the intersection of 25th and Eye St.
    • Walk about a block to the traffic circle.
    • Cross New Hampshire Ave and walk onto Virginia Ave, in the southeast direction.
    • Walk 2 blocks on Virginia Ave.
    • When you hit 21st St, turn right, and then walk a block until you get to C St. After C St, the NAS building will be on your right.

By Metro

• The building is a 15-minute walk from the Foggy Bottom metro stop (Blue/Silver/Orange Line) and a 25-minute walk from the Farragut North (Red Line) metro stop.
  
  • Directions from Foggy Bottom-GWU Metro stop:
    • Turn right when you exit the station.
    • Walk south down 23rd Street, NW for approximately 7 blocks.
    • Turn left onto C Street, NW (after the State Department).
    • Cross 22nd Street.
• • Directions from Farragut North Metro stop/The Academy Offices:
    • Walk to 17th St NW and Eye St.
    • Walk south on 17th St NW in the direction of the White House for 4 blocks.
    • Turn right on New York Ave NW (this will turn into E St).
    • Walk 4 blocks until you hit 21st St NW.
    • Turn left and walk down 21st St NW for 2 blocks. The building will be on your right.
