The Child Tax Credit and Earned Income Tax Credit have both been effective in reducing poverty and providing crucial financial assistance for millions of American families. Despite decades of bipartisan support, administrative challenges—including underwhelming take-up rates, improper payments, and an ineffective audit process—have hampered their effectiveness. As deliberations continue over structural reforms to these programs, policy makers also have an opportunity to make administrative improvements to tackle these challenges.
Thank you for joining the BPC and the Center for a conversation with policy experts and stakeholders to highlight issues with CTC and EITC and discuss bipartisan intergovernmental solutions that could improve their administration for American families and workers.
