Positioning Workforce Management for the Future
We are all curious about the future, and uncertain about what it will bring and how best to prepare now to meet new demands. Three Academy Fellows will describe how they have successfully addressed specific Human Capital issues, and foreshadow ways that HR Leaders can prepare now for the future.
Robert Tobias, Academy Fellow and Professor, American University, will serve as Moderator, and Academy Fellows who will present include:
Angela Bailey, Chief Human Capital Officer, U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Angie will talk about the importance of Talent Management, describing how a large department must use different workforce approaches to meet mission requirements.
Anita Blair, Former Chief Human Capital Officer, U.S. Department of Defense. Anita will focus on Modern Work in the post-Covid world, examining the importance and impact of telework and automation on jobs and organizations.
Janine Velasco, Assistant Director, Management and Administration, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), Department of Interior. Historically, Human Resource leaders operate their programs with a heavy emphasis on compliance with HR rules. Can principles of risk management and a focus on data analytics replace this current way of doing business? What role do managers play? Janine will draw on her Human Capital and business management expertise to explain how to facilitate this shift.
