What can be learned from comparative study of 21st century national planning? An International Affairs Panel workshop

While the U.S. has been a outlier in the use of formally titled "national plans," in the late 20^th century national development planning was otherwise engaged in globally. In 2024, with new drivers including UN Sustainable Development Goals and the need for countries to develop strategies to address 21^st century challenges including climate change, national planning continues to evolve.

The International Affairs Panel workshop will bring together scholars/practitioners from South America, Asia, Africa, Australia and the EU to discuss case studies of ongoing national planning for a journal special issue symposium, with the aim of synthesizing a framework for comparative learning on the 21^st century use of national plans.
