OMB Launches Strategic Reviews

The Office of Management and Budget has started conducting a series of strategic reviews with federal agencies in an attempt to better integrate program performance with budget decisions.

And, next year, the reviews will start being used to inform budget and legislative decisions affecting agencies and their programs, said Lisa Danzig, who oversees federal performance management at OMB.

At an June 17 event held at the National Academy of Public Administration, Danzig said of strategic reviews, "How does it inform our long-term strategies, how does it inform budget formulation, legislative strategies, ideas or opportunities to incorporate better evidence and research demonstration? That’s where I think there’s a lot of richness."
