Agricultural Research Service Human Resources Employee Climate Study

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Agricultural Research Service (ARS), conducts research to develop and transfer solutions to agricultural problems of high national priority and provide information access and dissemination to:

  • ensure high-quality, safe food, and other agricultural products;
  • assess the nutritional needs of Americans;
  • sustain a competitive agricultural economy;
  • enhance the natural resource base and the environment and provide economic opportunities for rural citizens, communities, and society as a whole.

Project Description

In 2018, ARS asked the National Academy of Public Administration (the Academy) to conduct an independent, comprehensive climate assessment of the units that provide human resource (HR) services to the Agency and three other research agencies at the Department: Human Resources Division (HRD) employees; and human resource employees in ARS’s three Business Service Centers (BSC) located across the country. .


Timeline

The study team will receive guidance from a three-member Expert Advisory Group of Fellows and conduct the analysis for ARS over the next four months.
