Why Do You Serve?

Through no action of my own, I was fortunate enough to be born a citizen of the United States. This has provided me opportunities to make the most of my life that are unavailable to the vast majority of the world’s population. These opportunities are in many cases a direct result of the government institutions from which we all benefit. Those institutions are of course no more than the individuals who choose to serve within those institutions. Serving on behalf of the American public, whether in the military, federal service, or consulting to federal agencies, has offered me a sense of contribution in exchange for the many benefits I have received as a result of being a U.S. citizen. Being a member of NAPA has allowed me to continue to learn and grow in my ability to contribute, as well as providing a forum to hopefully contribute to the growth of others in public service.
