Mark Hertko

Mark Hertko is a Senior Manager in Research and Government Solutions and a Project Director at the National Academy of Public Administration. He leads multidisciplinary teams conducting research, program evaluation, and organizational assessments for federal agencies. His work includes developing research designs and workplans, supervising staff, engaging clients and stakeholders, synthesizing evidence, and translating complex findings into practical recommendations for agency leaders and Congressional audiences.

Mark's project portfolio includes studies on artificial intelligence governance, aviation modernization, organizational design, workforce capacity, shared services, and program performance. His experience spans major federal departments and independent agencies, including the Federal Aviation Administration, Environmental Protection Agency, National Park Service, Department of Energy, Department of Health and Human Services, National Science Foundation, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Corporation for National and Community Service.

Mark holds a Master of Science in Teaching from Pace University, a Master of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of Illinois Springfield, and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science and Biology from Monmouth College.
