Intergovernmental Systems Standing Panel Meeting

The February Intergovernmental Systems Standing Panel meeting will take place on Feb. 27, at 12 p.m. Eastern

Among the topics for discussion:

  • Homelessness — what accomplished and thoughts/discussion/decisions re next steps
  • Extreme weather events (working with international standing panel) — what accomplished and thoughts/discussion re next steps
  • Intergovernmental data handling and performance management to improve outcomes, operational quality and understanding — lessons from past Panel and Fellow work (e.g., Covid, homelessness, National Weather Service), and thoughts about planned next steps (finding what worked well and why, what did not and why, lessons, and possible prescriptions such as checklists)
  • Fiscal capacity to deal with growing problems such as homelessness, housing, declining gross income of bottom 50% of taxpayers (Source: Performance.gov Social Indicators table) — introduce the issue, brainstorm how and with whom (e.g., Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget to expand focus to states and locals, Bipartisan Policy Center?) to make progress building understanding of the issue and identifying viable options to address these growing problems.
