Intergovernmental Systems Standing Panel Meeting:

"Reducing Homelessness in the United States:

An Intergovernmental Challenge"

Wednesday, September 11, 1 p.m. Eastern

After nearly two years, the Intergovernmental Systems Standing Panel’s Homelessness Working Group is excited to present its work. Working group chairs Steve Redburn and Rich Callahan will discuss the report and its findings during this 90-minute webinar. The working group identified unique approaches to addressing homelessness and common themes or strategies in successful intergovernmental solutions to improve outcomes for unhoused individuals and families across the United States.

Homelessness is a complex problem. Many factors lead to people living without permanent housing or the means to secure it, and many organizations, including federal, state, and local governments, must collaborate across functional and geographical boundaries to solve the problem. The working group identified five basic tasks that demonstrate promise in cities and non-metropolitan areas: commitment and communication, network-building, effective delivery systems, dynamic data usage, and financing options
