Biography

Jonathan Womer is the Vice President for Shared Services as the University of North Carolina System Office. Previously in North Carolina, he was Associate Vice President for Finance and Economic Analysis at the University of North Carolina System Office and worked for the State of North Carolina, rising from Assistant State Budget Officer to State Chief Information Officer.

 

In Rhode Island, he served as Director of the Department of Administration where he  lead all state administrative functions in making data-informed decisions to enhance the public good while preserving fiscal responsibility. From 2015-2021, he served as Director of the Office of Budget and Management at Rhode Island’s Department of Administration, where he worked collaboratively with the Governor and General Assembly to develop and implement the annual budget for the state while also simplifying the entire regulatory code, implementing a cloud-based budgeting system, and establishing the state’s fraud data analytics group.  He also served as Senior Advisor at Brown University’s The Policy Lab, where he developed funding guidance for state and local governments implementing integrated data systems to serve vulnerable populations. 

 

Director Womer started his professional career at the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs and the Office of Electronic Governance and Information Technology within the White House Office of Management and Budget, where he was part of the team that built the first federal IT strategy and was named to the FCW Fed 100.
