Biography

Matt Hart is the Executive Director of the Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG), which serves 38 municipalities and a population of 976,248 in greater Hartford, CT.

Matt is an experienced local government executive, having worked as a town manager in two CT communities prior to his current role. He is also an adjunct faculty member at UConn’s School of Public Policy, with a focus on local and regional government. His current policy priorities include housing attainability, transportation safety, environmental planning, and community and economic development.

Matt earned his JD and MPA from UCONN and his BA from SUNY Potsdam, and is a proud veteran of the US Army and Army National Guard. He is an active member of the International City & County Management Association (ICMA) and the National Association of Regional Councils (NARC). As a new Fellow, he looks forward to engaging with his new colleagues and contributing to the work of the Academy.
