About Heidi Roop

Heidi Roop is a national expert in climate science, adaptation and policy. She is the Director of the University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership, a nation-leading applied research and Extension program offering cutting-edge science and tailored weather and climate resilience resources and technical assistance. The Climate Adaptation Partnership has become a model for similar university-based climate services programs across the country. Roop has served two presidential administrations in various roles in the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy. In these roles, including as the Acting Executive Director of the U.S. Global Change Research Program, she supported coordination of global change research and services across over a dozen federal agencies and advised the White House on how to effectively manage emerging and anticipated climate risks and impacts. In addition to directing the Climate Adaptation Partnership, Heidi is an Associate Professor of Climate Science and Extension Specialist at the University of Minnesota, and an Affiliate Professor in the School of Public Health at the University of Washington.
