Tim Kaine

Tim Kaine has dedicated his career to public service as a civil rights lawyer, educator, and elected official. He is one of only a few individuals in American history to have served as a Mayor, Governor, and United States Senator. Kaine began his elected career on the Richmond City Council in 1994 and became Mayor of Richmond in 1998. He later served as Lieutenant Governor of Virginia before being elected as the state's 70th Governor in 2005. During his tenure as Governor, he led Virginia through the Great Recession and served as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee from 2009 to 2011. Elected to the United States Senate in 2012, Kaine serves on the Armed Services, Budget, Foreign Relations, and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committees. In the Senate, he has focused on strengthening education and workforce development, supporting military families and veterans, expanding access to affordable health care, and promoting bipartisan solutions to national challenges.
