Stan Meiburg has had a distinguished career in environmental protection and sustainability. Since 2017, he has been the Director of Graduate Studies in Sustainability at Wake Forest University. Before this academic role, he was the Acting Deputy Administrator of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from 2014 to 2017. Stan’s journey with the EPA began much earlier. From 1996 to 2014, he was the Deputy Regional Administrator for Region 4. Prior to that, he held the same position in Region 6 from 1995 to 1996. His leadership in Region 6 also included his role as the Director of the Air, Pesticides, and Toxics Division from 1990 to 1995. In the late 1980s, Mr. Meiburg directed the Planning and Management Staff in the Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards, a position he held from 1985 to 1990. His earlier roles at the EPA included serving as the Executive Assistant in the Office of the Deputy Administrator in 1984 and as a Program Analyst in the Program Evaluation Division from 1977 to 1984. Throughout his career, Mr. Meiburg has demonstrated a deep commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, making significant contributions to the field.
