Zamira Rodriguez joined the Academy's Center for Intergovernmental Partnerships (CIP) as a Research Associate in October 2021. She holds a B.A. in International Relations and Global Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and an M.S. in Public Administration from Texas State University.
Zamira has experience with both the public and nonprofit sectors. She previously acted as the Communications Director for Texas State Representative Ryan Guillen during the 87th Texas Legislature, designing and implementing the communications strategy for an active member of the Texas House. Prior to this role, she worked with the nonprofit My Brother's Keeper in San Antonio (MBKSA) as a part of the Americorps VISTA program. MBKSA is committed to improving the lives of boys and young men of color by changing ineffective systems through shifts in resources, power, practices, and policies to increase postsecondary achievement. Zamira supported the nonprofit's efforts to address opportunity gaps which many of these individuals may face. She built capacity for the organization, assisted in data collection and visualization, improved community engagement, and coordinated events for the community.
In Zamira's free time, you can find her spending time outdoors or attending live music events.
