Join the National Academy of Public Administration’s (the Academy) Extreme Weather Resilience Hub (the Hub) for a timely panel discussion on the challenges communities face in implementing resilience strategies at the local level. As extreme weather events become more frequent and severe, local governments and community organizations are at the forefront of adapting to these risks, often while navigating significant constraints in capacity, funding, and coordination.
This webinar is part of a broader series of in-person and virtual activities led by the Academy’s Hub. Through this series, the Hub is working to share knowledge, bridge gaps, and strengthen connections across the complex and evolving resilience and adaptation ecosystem in the United States. By bringing together practitioners, policy makers, and subject-matter experts, the Hub aims to foster collaboration and elevate practical solutions that can be scaled and adapted across diverse communities.
During this session, panelists will draw on real-world experiences to explore how communities are advancing resilience goals despite limited resources. Speakers will highlight innovative approaches, partnerships, and strategies that have helped overcome common barriers, from workforce and technical capacity gaps to inflexible governance models to fragmented funding streams and regulatory challenges. The discussion will also surface lessons learned and opportunities to better align support systems to meet local needs.
We have the opportunity to create a more resilient future for all communities. Join this conversation to learn how you can help your community and how vital it is to collaborate across sectors, disciplines, agencies, and organizations to implement efficient, effective governance models and resilience strategies.
