Senior Research Associate
Ms. Elise Johnson joined the Academy in 2019 as a Research Associate and has served on studies for eight different federal agencies, including work for the Office of Personnel Management, the Agricultural Research Service, the Office of Space Commerce, the U.S. Trade and Development Agency, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. She is currently engaged in two congressionally-requested studies, including an assessment of the Coast Guard Academy’s cultural competence and a review of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency’s program to build a national cybersecurity workforce. For over two years, she has also supported the Academy’s Grants Management Symposium, a quarterly discussion series designed to foster knowledge sharing and problem-solving in the grants management community.
Before joining the Academy, Ms. Johnson earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy, a Bachelor of Arts in Government & Politics, and a Spanish minor from the University of Maryland, College Park. During her senior year, she completed a capstone project with the Academy for her Public Policy degree. Ms. Johnson currently serves as a member on the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy Alumni Board.
