The Federal Budget Process

Friday, November 4th from 2-4 pm EST

The Standing Panel on Executive Organization and Management (EOM) met virtually Friday, November 4th, from 2 – 4 p.m. Eastern Time. The panel included a discussion of the federal budget process featuring:

  • Bill Hoagland, Senior Vice President at the Bipartisan Policy Center, former Director of Budget and Appropriations in the office of Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, and former Staff Director of the Senate Budget Committee under the leadership of Senator Pete Domenici; and
  • Jeffrey Arkin, a Director in GAO’s Strategic Issues team, where he oversees work on federal budget and state and local fiscal issues.

Following our discussion of the federal budget, the EOM Panel opened the discussion up for members to offer suggestions for topics to consider at meetings and events during calendar year 2023.
