I have 40 years of experience in defense and national security policy, budgeting, and fiscal policy. I served for 12 years at the highest levels of management at the Pentagon, with five Secretaries of Defense, including 6.5 years as the Department's Comptroller and CFO. Prior to that I served for 24 years in the federal legislative branch, including 21 years on the staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee, where I worked on financial management, readiness, maintenance, base closure and numerous other issues. I also served on the staff of the House Budget Committee working defense and veterans issues, and as as an analyst with the Congressional Budget Office. I have also served as a member of the advisory board for the Economics Department at Ohio State and as treasurer, secretary, vice president or president of three local non-profits.
