Evan Berman is listed among the very top researchers in public administration. He has extensively worked with senior public managers in the U.S. and abroad, in both federal/national and subnational governments. He is especially known for his work on public performance, human resources management, and comparative studies, such as intergovernmental management, environmental policy, capability development, implementation, and strategic management. Recent interests include employee resilience, meaningful work, and agile government. Academically, Evan is a prolific author, ranked among the top 0.1% of researchers in public administration, in both quality and quantity. He has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Distinguished Research Award from NASPAA and the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA), the Fred Riggs Award for Lifetime Achievement in International and Comparative Public Administration. and the Outstanding Scholarship Award in Public Sector HRM. He is also the author of award-winning, widely used textbooks, including statistics. Evan earned his Ph.D. in Public Policy from George Washington University, and has taught in Florida (University of Miami, UCF), at Louisiana State University and, internationally, in New Zealand and Taipei. He is currently Professor Titular in Public Management at FGV (Brazil’s top private university and elite business school in South America), and holds visiting appointments at major universities.
